The hotel is situated on a hill overlooking the lake in a quiet, residential area. To reach it, there is a small windy road, or the private funicular which runs according to demand and can be found on lake level just opposite the Palace hotel.
There are equal numbers of medium and large rooms. Some are decorated in the same fashion as the rest of the property with elegant traditional decor. Others have an altogether more trendy look being decorated in an interesting mixture of modern and art deco styles. All rooms are in exceptional condition and really eyecatching. The bathrooms which are modern and stylish are also in exceptional condition. Accomodation is really of the highest standard.
The restaurant has been refurbished in traditonal style, and the bar has been given a rejuvenated image as it is a new and popular jazz bar. Both have a superb views over Lucerne town and lake.
The hotel is an attractive traditional building. Its "old world" charm and history have an immmediate impact.
The lobby is medium sized, and has recently been refurbished along with the other reception areas, maintaining the traditional style of the exterior. The other public areas are quite spacious, and are decorated in traditional style with some beautiful "period" furniture.
Steeped in tradition, this is one of the best hotels of its category in Switzerland. It is five-star in all but official category and comes highly recommended for the discerning traveller.
